Finding Your Ancestors in War Records; BBC Radio Solent

Lou Hannan Show

Monday 10th June 2024 11to 12 AM

I was back on the Lou Hannan on BBC Radio Solent Monday 10th June 2024, the 80th anniversary of my Dad embarking for France after helping to transport Tanks to the Ports for D-Day.

This time, given the the D-Day celebrations we’ve been having, I explained how to gain access to your Family’s War and Service Records, whether Army, Navy, or Air Force and as Lou’s Family served in all three Services, it should make for an interesting conversation, and I’ll be on hand to answer listeners questions.

Whose Ancestor spent time in a Military Prison? What happened to the “Burned Records”? Which Medals did they get? How do you track down your ancestors’ movements in Warfare? All this and more discussed on Monday 10th June recording here (the whole show is good but I come on at 1hr 24mins 49 secs) :
